THE VOICE OF THE NOSTALGIA OF DEATH Vanguard's poetry found fertile ground in Mexico, the "isms" of postwar spread valuable in finding interpreters poets who won deserved fame. The most significant was the group that gathered around the journal Contemporary (1928-1931). Villaurrutia Xavier Gonzalez was born in Mexico City on March 27, 1903 and died in his hometown, on December 25 1950. He studied at the French School and from their high school education started their friendship with Salvador Novo and Torres Bodet. Although he began his law studies, soon left to devote himself entirely to letters. Addressed, along with Salvador Novo, Ulises magazine. In 1938, during the Spanish war provoked by the military uprising of General Franco, published two poems "Death in the cold" and "Pink Night" in Time of Spain, the most important magazine of the moment. Later worked in Romance, "Latin American popular magazine," they wrote in the main Spanish intellectuals in exile. The lyric poetry of Xavier Villaurrutia, classical modulations, evidence thoughtful readings and an awareness of poetic creation with only the great artists.
